Community and Legal Information

Community and Legal Information is one of four focus areas within the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre and is fronted by a team of staff and volunteers.

The face of the neighbourhood centre, our team provides a welcoming place to gather information, ask questions and gain assistance or catch up with centre activities.

Information & Referral

We provide access to a wide variety of information such as government departments, social clubs, educational courses, welfare agencies, legal and health services and we can help you access the right service or find who to phone for more assistance.

Browse through the large collection of brochures and booklets on display which are there to assist all members of the community.

Call in or phone our friendly staff who are only too happy to assist you with any enquiry you may have.

Opening times are 9am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Pine Rivers Community Legal Service

This service is a free and confidential general legal advice service provided within the centre. We offer assistance with information (including printed materials), advice and referral on all aspects of the law, how to proceed with a legal problem, and para-legal assistance in the completion of various Do–It–Yourself Kits.

Appointments are available Monday to Friday,  9am to 3pm. Please phone 3205-2955 for an appointment.

Our legal service also now offers a free will making service each Wednesday.

Every Thursday evening, except Christmas school holidays, we have a walk-in legal service. This service is offered by solicitors who volunteer their time to assist you. No appointment is necessary and the doors are open from 6pm till 7.30pm.

The Legal Service is unable to assist you with any legal advice over the phone, court representation, ongoing casework or any legal matter for which you have engaged other legal personnel.

The Legal Service values your feedback, both positive and negative. If you have any feedback please contact us.

Venue Bookings

We take bookings for the use of spaces at the Neighbourhood Centre and some council owned venues at low cost. Various facilities are available, from large auditorium space to small boardroom meeting areas at various locations within the Pine Rivers Shire.

Please phone to discuss your venue/activity requirements.

Tax Help

Tax Help is a free service providing assistance to complete yearly tax returns for people on low income.

Qualified volunteers trained by the Australian Taxation Office are available from mid July to the end of October each year by appointment.

Please phone us to discuss eligibility criteria.
