Volunteering at PRNC

From the beginnings of the Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre in 1988, volunteer staff have worked to provide important services to the local community.

Volunteers continue to work and develop the Neighbourhood Centre as a relevant community resource.

Volunteers are representatives of the local community, and as such ensure:

  • The Centre services accurately reflect community values
  • The Centre is responsive to local community needs and issues
  • The training provided to volunteers ensures that human resources and skills remain in the local area
  • The work enhances opportunities for everyone in their own community

Volunteering Opportunities

There are many volunteering opportunities available at the Centre, including:

  • Reception support
  • Administration support
  • Legal support
  • Adult Literacy tutor
  • Seasons program worker
  • Family support visitor

Some Comments from our Volunteers:

Anita

Sally
"I've made some new friends and built up a good network of community service contacts through my volunteer work."

  • Is a vehicle for individuals or groups to address human, environmental and social needs
  • Is an activity which takes place through not for profit organizations and projects
  • Is not a substitute for paid work
  • Does not threaten the livelihood of paid workers
  • Respects the rights, dignity and culture of others
  • Promotes human rights and equality.
