A friendly and relaxed group for speakers of other languages that supports individuals to improve their English speaking skills.

Participants will have an opportunity to improve their English conversation skills in a peer support environment facilitated by a volunteer adult literacy tutor. Each session is structured so that participants have an opportunity to: learn about Australian sayings, jokes and phrases; engage in conversation on a variety to relevant and interesting topics; improve pronunciation and sentence structure; and do role plays of everyday situations like making a doctor’s appointment.

The Conversational English Group runs as an 8 week program each school term. Weekly sessions are held on Tuesdays from 9.30am til 11.00am at the North Lakes Library, 5 Discovery Drive, North Lakes. No bookings are required. The programs for 2012 begin on 31st January, 17th April, 17th July and 16th October.
